Obituary of Barbara Schmidt
Barbara Schmidt, nee Staudacher, 74, of Millsboro, DE, and formerly a 30 year resident of Basking Ridge, NJ died at Acacia Hospice in the Masonic Village in Burlington, New Jersey on October 30. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Richard, and by her son William and daughter in law, Elizabeth of Warren, NJ.
A 1960 graduate of Fort Hamilton High School in Brooklyn, NY, Barbara worked for the Bank of New York until 1979 when she became a full time mother and homemaker. Later she worked several years as a nursery school assistant teacher in Basking Ridge. She was also a regular attendee and sometime Sunday School teacher at the Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church and a member of Amore Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star in Bogota, NJ.
Barbara's passion was animals and animal welfare. The light of her recent life has been her "grand dog", Quincy, but Barbara cared for all animals. She loved to tell about the white tail doe, Sugar, she fed for nine years as well as the many dogs and cats that have been part of her life. Her love for people was no less sincere, and she always had a smile and a kind word for everyone she met. The staff in Acacia Hospice frequently commented that Barbara was more concerned about their welfare and workload than her own situation.
