Obituary of Richard L Kopp
Richard L Kopp, 83, of Basking Ridge, passed away September 30, 2017.
Richard Kopp was born June 23, 1934, in Queens, NY, to Jacob and Helen (Cornell) Kopp.
He attended Queens College in New York and continued his education at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, where he met his wife Seta Ziver Kopp. He earned his PhD from New York University (NYU) and taught foreign languages at Holy Cross University in Worcester, Massachusetts, before moving to Summit NJ. After moving to New Jersey he was a professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, where he also ran the Honors Program.
Besides his family, his great loves were classical music, especially opera, and visiting New York City. He was actively involved with the Opera At Florham in Madison and served as a vocal competition judge and translator for presenting subtitles of operas in English.
He is survived by his wife, Seta Ziver Kopp of Basking Ridge; his brother Robert Kopp of Forty Fort, PA. In addition, his children; Nadya Babigian of Basking Ridge and Erik Kopp of Belle Mead, and his five grandchildren; Alexander Babigian, Jason Babigian, Devin Kopp, Daniel Kopp, and Hailey Kopp.
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, 10:00AM at St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church, 200 W Mt Pleasant Ave, Livingston, NJ 07039.
