Obituary of Carmela Sandra Lane

Carmela Sandra "Sandy" Lane, 67, beloved mother and sister, passed away at her home in Bernardsville, New Jersey on the afternoon of September 15. Born in Plainfield, NJ on September 27, 1949, Carmela grew up in Green Brook, NJ, the oldest of six siblings. She worked as a certified public accountant for over forty years. Carmela's extensive family and large circle of friends will never forget her sense of humor, work ethic and values. She loved to read, play Scrabble, visit with friends and family, and travel. Carmela truly led by quiet example and always exhibited strength during difficult times. Carmela is survived by her sons Philip and Matthew and her siblings Laura, Ernest, Michelle, Phyllis, Joanne, and Alfred, as well as 19 nieces and nephews. Carmela was predeceased by her beloved son, Joseph in 2009, her father, Ernest, in 2006, and her mother, Bibbiana, (nee Sabatino) in 2012. Visitation will be held at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ on Tuesday September 19, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 111 Claremont Rd, Bernardsville, NJ on Wednesday September 20, 2017 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Joseph A. Lane Memorial Scholarship Fund or the American Cancer Society.
