Obituary of Dolores V Mathiesen

Basking Ridge – Dolores Mathiesen 87, passed peacefully after a short illness at her residence in Basking Ridge. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was a resident of Jersey City, NJ, before moving to Basking Ridge with her family in 1941, and graduating from Bernards High School, Class of 1947. She was a homemaker, raising eight children and was employed in Bernards Township as a Crossing Guard for 45 years, seeing many generations of children make it to and from school safely. Preceeding in death by her husband, Kenneth Mathiesen and son Richard C. Mathiesen, survivors include her seven children, Glenn R. Mathiesen of Hellertown, PA, Robert G. Mathiesen of Scottsdale, Arizona, Barbara A. Niederberger, of New Ipswich, New Hampshire, Mary L. Marino of St. Augustine, FL, James D. Mathiesen of Neshanic Station, NJ, Nancy L. Mathiesen, of Randolph, NJ, Peter J. Mathiesen of Houston, Texas, 13 grandchildren and 9 great grand children. Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday June 9, 2017 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finely Ave. Basking Ridge, NJ. Memorial Service will start at 5:30pm In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy donations should be made to the local chapter of the American Heart Association.
