Obituary of Raymond V Carney

Raymond V. Carney, 72, of Millington, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center. A liturgy of Christian burial will be held on Saturday November 13, 2010 at 10am at the Shrine of St. Joseph Church 1050 Long Hill Road, Stirling, NJ, followed by burial in St. Teresa Cemetery, Summit, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to visit the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ on Thursday November 11, 2010 from 6-8pm and on Friday November 12, 2010 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made in Raymond's name to the Shrine of St. Joseph, 1050 Long Hill Road, Stirling, NJ 07980 or to the Millington Volunteer Fire Company, Millington, NJ. He was a member of the National Corvette Museum, National Glass Corvette Association, Experimental Aircraft Association, N.J. State Firemen's Association, N.J. State Fire Chiefs' Association, as well as the 8am Christian Community at the Shrine of St. Joseph. Raymond served on the Millington Volunteer Fire Company for 42 years, 5 years as Chief, and was also a past Trustee. He worked for Hoechst Celanese in Summit for 36 years in Research and Development. Surviving are his wife of 47 years Regina, two sons and daughters in law Chris and Stephanie, of Clinton Sean and Amy, of RI., two granddaughters Katie and Libby, his mother Helen, sister and brother in law Janet and Robert Schreiber, sister Judy Carney, a sister in law Pat Carney and Many Nieces and Nephews. He was predeceased by his father Raymond J Carney and brother Paul Carney. Raymond enjoyed his boats, Corvettes, and tinkering in his garage, and maintained homes in 1000 Island area New York, Punta Gorda Florida, and Millington where he lived for the past 45 years. He was very active as a Volunteer Firemen and with the Nation Corvette Museum where he served as a Master Ambassador. Most of all Ray enjoyed being with his family and beloved granddaughters.
