Obituary of Leonard H Rose

LEONARD H. ROSE, Basking Ridge, NJ. A devoted husband, father and and friend to all, peacefully passed away on October 8, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be conducted at the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home in Basking Ridge between 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Tuesday, October 13th. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. James Roman Catholic Church in Basking Ridge at 10AM on October 14th, 2015. Len was born on October 14th, 1927 in Teaneck, NJ, the son of the late Harry Rose and Ann Garreti Rose. At an early age, the family moved to Brooklyn, where he was raised. He graduated from Franklin K. Lane high school and Saint Francis College. He also earned a master's degree in Engineering from Brooklyn Polytech and post master's studies at the University of Virginia. Len was employed as an engineer at Grumman Aerospace in Bethpage Long Island, working on the F14 fighter jet and the Apollo project Lunar Excursion Module (LEM). He was married to his surviving wife Anne for sixty years. Together, they lived in Huntington, Long Island and raised three children. He was an active member in St. Hugh of Lincoln parish in Huntington Station for more than 50 years. Len had many passions, including singing in the church choir and the Huntington Men's Choral Group, the NY Yankees, NY Giants, college basketball, golf, and good Italian food. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, three children Lisa Rose Bazzani and husband Scott (Chatham, NJ), James (Menlo Park, CA), and Kenneth and wife Rosa (Morristown, NJ), five grandchildren Gregg, Michael, Nicole, Christopher and Evan James, and many, many friends. He will be missed by all.
