Michael "Mike" Francis Cullen

It is with deep love and gratitude that we celebrate the life of Michael "Mike" Francis Cullen, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Mike passed away peacefully at home in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, on August 3, 2026, at the age of 95, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on June 21, 1931, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Mike was one of seven children. His humble beginnings shaped the values that guided his life—faith, hard work, humility, resilience, and an unwavering devotion to family.

Mike met his wife, Sarah Bridget, in Newark, New Jersey. Together they built a life filled with love, first in Roseland and later in Cedar Knolls, where they raised their three daughters. 

A proud Irishman and a true blue-collar worker, Mike dedicated more than 61 years to PSE&G, retiring at the age of 84. He believed in showing up, working hard, and providing for those he loved. Quiet, dependable, and strong, he led by example and earned the respect of everyone who knew him.

His greatest joy was his family, especially his seven grandchildren, whom he loved beyond measure. Mike will be remembered for his kindness, quiet strength, unwavering integrity, and the example he set through a lifetime of love, sacrifice, and service.

Mike is survived by his loving daughters, Kathleen Gutjahr and her husband, Gordon; Bridget Zima and her husband, Jim; and Patricia Kolshorn and her husband, Ted. He was the cherished grandfather of Briana Zima, Erik Zima, Michael Zima, Jack Gutjahr, Sarah Gutjahr, Bridget Kolshorn, and Timothy Kolshorn. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sarah Bridget Cullen.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mike's life with a viewing on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, New Jersey. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Church, 184 South Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. A luncheon will follow at The Hanover Manor.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites those wishing to honor Mike's memory to make a donation to a charity or cause that is meaningful to them.

Mike's legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the values he instilled, and the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
