Gilbert W Kelly Obituary

Gilbert W. Kelly, age 87, of Millington, New Jersey, passed away peacefully in the early morning of June 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Edward and Edith Kelly. He was predeceased by his brother, John Kelly.


Gil was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary (née Leddy) Kelly, whom he affectionately called “Gigs.” Together they shared a deep love and many happy memories. 


A proud U.S. Air Force veteran, Gil attended Seton Hall University. He was a faithful Catholic whose strong faith guided his life decisions and brought comfort to his family.


An enthusiastic sportsman and outdoorsman, Gil played competitive hockey, baseball, and soccer in his youth. He remained active throughout his life, enjoying hunting and golf. His warm personality, love of life, and zest for good food and good company will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.


A proud grandfather of 20 and great-grandfather of 25, he is survived by his wife, Mary Kelly;


his children:


• Peter and Jennifer Kelly, and their children Peter, Brian, Clare, Stephen, and Janet;


• Mary and Peter Quense, and their children Jason, Jed, Mollie, Becky, Hannah and Cindy;


• Chris and Elisabeth Kelly, and their children Chris, Daniel, Maureen, James, and Mary Kate;


• Patrick and Laura Kelly, and their children Nicholas, Maggie, Alison, and Jake.


Visitation will be held on Friday, June 12, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ.


A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 13, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Stirling, NJ.
