John M. Cauley died on Monday, June 8, 2026, at the age of 83. A longtime Morris Township resident, John was raised in Philadelphia as the oldest of five children of John and Evelyn (Connors) Cauley. John completed his undergraduate degree at Drexel University and received his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Princeton University. John worked for Exxon in Florham Park from 1970 to 1982. He then turned his wine appreciation hobby into employment at Epstein’s in Morristown followed by Gary’s Wine in Madison, NJ.  

John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Valerie. He is also survived by his siblings Joseph Cauley (Janet), Alice Hewitt (Tyl), Helen Cauley, and Marian Flocco (Charles), along with many nieces and nephews.

John and his wife loved to travel and enjoy good food and good wine. John was a longtime usher and parishioner of St. Bernard’s Episcopal Church in Bernardsville, NJ.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 11:00 am at St. Bernard’s Episcopal Church, 88 Claremont Road, Bernardsville, NJ, 07924, followed by a reception in Parish Hall. After the reception, the family will go to Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover for his burial.
