Nancy Smith Clauson, daughter of Carl Odel Smith and Cornelia Myrtle Smith, age 85, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, in Morristown, New Jersey. Born in Bassett, Virginia, Nancy lived a life filled with love, energy, and devotion to her family, friends, and faith.

Nancy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Don Clauson; her sister, Brenda Stone; and her brother, Michael Smith. She is survived by her three daughters: Karen (Lenny) D'Elia, Anne (Mike) Duke, and Elizabeth (Rusty) Cook as well as her beloved niece Melissa Jones. She also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren—Abigail Hagopian, Jessica Cook, Travis Cook, Chad Cook , Peter D'Elia, and Lucas Cook—and six great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her later years.

Nancy dedicated much of her professional life to her role as a Legal Administrator at Seyfarth Shaw. Her career took her to major cities such as New York City, Washington D.C., and Atlanta. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Nancy had a deep passion for traveling the world. Whether exploring new destinations or revisiting favorite places, she embraced every journey with enthusiasm.

Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and nurturing the relationships that meant so much to her. Nancy was known for her warm heart and lively spirit. She loved chatting with friends and visiting those she held dear. Her church community was also an integral part of her life—a source of strength and connection throughout the years.

Nancy’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May the love she shared continue to inspire those she touched during her remarkable life. A Memorial Service will be held on May 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Gallaway and Crane 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920
