Herman Moeller Obituary

Herman Joseph Moeller, of Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge New Jersey passed away on April 10, 2026, at the age of 89.

Born on April 24, 1936, in the Bronx, New York, he was the son of the late Herman J. and Anne (Molnar) Moeller. As a child, Herman cherished his time growing up in New York and held fond memories of visits to the New York Botanical Garden, Yankee Stadium, and the Bronx Zoo.

Herman was the eldest of three brothers, William and Robert. His family later relocated to East Haddam, Connecticut, where they lived on a 140-acre farm and Summer Resort. During his high school years, Herman demonstrated early initiative and leadership by organizing a group of classmates to help refurbish the historic Goodspeed Opera House, which was then in disrepair. This effort foreshadowed the many projects he would undertake throughout his life.

In 1953 he graduated from Nathan Hale-Ray High School in Moodus, Connecticut. He went on to earn a degree in electrical engineering with a concentration on electronics from the University of Hartford in 1957.

After graduating, Herman began his career with General Dynamics, where he contributed to a top-secret initiative involving missile systems for nuclear submarines during the Cold War. His work sparked a deeper interest in advanced technology, leading him to pursue further technical research at Penn State, where he recognized the emerging potential of cable television.

From the mid-1970s through the early 1980s, Herman worked in the development of cable television and fiber optics. He later turned his attention to medical programming, founding International Medical Broadcast Corporation, which provided continuing education courses for physicians and healthcare professionals.

Through his work, Herman met and married Marion, his beloved wife of 50 years, who predeceased him in 2019. Together they built a life in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and New Jersey, raising their two children, Joseph and Nicole.

Herman had lived in New Jersey since the late 1980s, residing in Basking Ridge and, prior to his wife’s passing, in Allamuchy. While in Basking Ridge, he was a parishioner of St. James Church. In Allamuchy, he was actively involved with the Friends of Rutherford Hall and the Allamuchy Seniors Club O.W.L.S. (Older, Wiser, Livelier Seniors).

Herman found great joy in spending time with his children and their families. He often spoke fondly of racing his Victory-class sailboat on the Long Island Sound when he was young. During his marriage, he and Marion enjoyed traveling, attending musicals, and spending cherished time with their children and grandchildren. He was also an avid reader who had a lifelong interest in researching topics related to aging and wellness.

Herman is survived by his son, Joseph and his wife, Tanya; his daughter, Nicole and her husband, Edward; and his three grandchildren, Allison, Colin, and Margeaux. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Moeller, and his wife, Barbara; His sister-in-law Lauryn, widow of his late brother William; along with a niece and many nephews.
