Our beloved mother, Barbara (nee Woodbury) Lagarenne, aged 94 of Bernardsville New Jersey died peacefully in her sleep on March 18, 2026.  Barbara was born in New York City on April 24, 1931 to Walter and Angela Woodbury, the only girl of five children.  Barbara married the love of her life, Walter Lagarenne, on June 7, 1952 after meeting on the beach in Montauk Long Island.  They shared a long, loving and prosperous marriage until Walter’s passing in January of 2015. 

Barbara was a funny and fiercely independent woman, who was devoted to children, including the six children, sixteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren she was blessed with in her life time, all of whom survive her.  If there was an infant in the room, it was almost always in Barbara’s arms.  Barbara was also a determined and fearless fighter who twice beat cancer and never flinched at a challenge.  Barbara found joy and purpose in her large extended family, which included forty nephews and nieces, and loved nothing more than large family events where she could catch up with beloved relatives.  Barbara and Walter had a life long passion for the beach and enjoy sharing their beach house in Litchfield South Carolina with family and friends throughout their long retirement together.  

Barbara will be remembered for her wit, wry sense of humor but above all her loving constancy in all things with those she loved. She was a rock for her family and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Visitation will be on Thursday, March 26, 2026 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, March 27, 2026, 10:00 AM at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Church, 111 Claremont Ave, Bernardsville, NJ 07924. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge.
