It is with heavy hearts that the family of Dorothy Deibert announces her passing on March 2, 2026 at the age of 94.
Dorothy was born to Helene and Theophil Weber in Jersey City, New Jersey on June 1, 1931. During the difficult years of the Depression she lived on her grandparent’s farm in Germany – a period of time that formed lasting memories of her loving grandparents. Returning to the United States at the age of five to begin Kindergarten, the family resided in Jersey City where Dorothy grew up alongside her three sisters, Anna, Gertrude and Inga.
She met the love her life Jim at a church youth group, and they married on June 7, 1952. They lived for a short time in Jersey City before moving to Whippany, New Jersey and then settled in their forever home in Warren Township, where they found the quiet, rural atmosphere and connection to nature they sought.
They raised their three children Evelyn, James and Collette between Warren Township and weekends and summers on a beloved family farm in Pennsylvania.
When the children were older, Dorothy returned to work as an accounting clerk for Burroughs Corporation and worked there until her retirement in the early 1980’s.
Dorothy and Jim had many mutual interests particularly antique hunting and collecting. Dorothy was a fabulous cook, an avid reader, being a member of the local book club, and particularly loved feeding her birds, especially hummingbirds, and tending her garden. She passed this love on to her children - who cherish this gift.
Dorothy passed away quietly on the afternoon of March 2. Her kind soul and deep concern for others will be missed.
Dorothy’s husband, Jim, predeceased her. Dorothy is survived by her three children, five grandchildren and four great grand children. Evelyn Guzman (husband, the late Shmuel Guzman) and children Kerin Santoro and Michael Guzman; son James Deibert, his wife Deborah, and daughter Danielle; and daughter, Collette Varisco, her husband Tony and sons Philip Cannistra and Daniel Cannistra. Her granddaughter Kerin’s two children, Ryley and Logan Santoro and her grandson Philip’s sons Quentin and Gavin Cannistra brought her much joy. Dorothy is also survived by her sister, Inga. She had a large circle of close friends and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
