Gloria Linda Dasalla Romar, 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Madison Farms district of Bethlehem Twp., PA, with family around on Thursday, February 12, 2026. Like the commemoration of St. Valentine, she had a heart of gold and a courageous heart of a lion.
Gloria Linda was born under the astrological sign, Leo, on July 27, 1941, in a small town of Ilocos Sur, Philippines to WW2 hero Telesforo D. Dasalla and war widow Esperanza Dasalla. She was the only child. As a studious child she was selected to meet and greet the Pope. Then, as a nursing student, she was voted by her university community to meet the Pope again as another honor. Even as a petite lady, she was a feisty intellectual in the debate team who won pageants and performed wonderfully on stage. Her blessings and courage come from God and Our Lord Jesus, who led her to come to the United States of America by being accepted to the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) where she graduated with her bachelor’s degree with Highest Honors. She became an American citizen and the lead nursing instructor teaching new nurses at the same university after studying for her Master’s at UPenn’s graduate school. She then went on to be a hero like her parents as an ICU/CCU nurse, and soon became the Director of Nursing and was elected as a Union Representative who championed patients’ rights and nurses’ improved benefits and wages. While a nurse in New York City, she met the love of her life, an engineering student, Cresencio (Bobby) Romar. Both became business entrepreneurs and partners to raise their four children and build a life together in Warren Twp. and Watchung, New Jersey. She was proud that her children graduated from universities, were athletic and became musically inclined, and who all went on to work in the areas of Radio, Wall Street and finance.
Gloria Linda lived a magical and miraculous, long good life. She will be remembered for her love, compassion, zest for life, smile, laugh, special humor, and her lucky streaks in life. She was and remains to be an inspiration to everyone and was a 1st generation nursing pioneer of her country, family and hometown. Others followed in her footsteps. In retirement, she owned another home in The Hills district, Bedminster, NJ, and enjoyed all the seasons, especially Christmastime. She traveled with family and grandchildren exploring New York City and The MET museum, Downtown Bethlehem, PA, Princeton, NJ, hotel resorts everywhere, restaurants, Catholic churches and cathedrals and Lehigh Valley Zoo where she befriended giraffes.
Gloria Linda is survived by her children and partners, Ace and Michele of Bethlehem, PA, Janine and Felix of Westfield, NJ, Creslyn and Gregg of Woodstock, NY, and three wonderful and talented grandchildren, Kiera, Miles and Lea, the oldest of which grandmother Gloria Linda (“Lula”) is so very proud of for being accepted to universities and having performed leading roles in many Broadway-type musicals on stage whenever Lula is in front and center of the audience. She is preceded in death by her guardian angels; daughter Richele, husband Bobby, mother Esperanza and father Telesforo.
Mommy and Lula, we all love you.
