Francis “Frank” Shaw, a long-time resident of Martinsville, New Jersey, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at Morristown Medical Center. Frank was born in February 1943 in Newark, New Jersey, the beloved son of Francis Benedict Shaw Sr. and Veronica Shaw.

Frank was a loving husband to Marian Shaw and a devoted father to his daughter, Kathleen Shaw, and son, Kevin Shaw. As a father, he made weekend time together special—sharing activities like ceramics, gardening, archery, movies, puzzles, and meals that became lasting family memories.

Frank proudly served in the United States Air Force as Military Police and was a Vietnam Veteran. He remained committed to supporting fellow service members and veterans as a member of VFW Post 239.

Frank worked for Local 68 as a Stationary Engineer for 60 years. A true master of his trade, he held numerous professional licenses and credentials, including an Electrical License, Blue Seal Boiler Operator License, Red Seal Refrigeration Operator License, and HVACR Licenses. Frank was known as the person who could fix and repair anything—and do it the right way. His dedication to his craft never slowed: Frank renewed his Electrical License at 80 years old and renewed his HVACR Licenses at 82 years old.

As a child, Frank was a boxer and never lost his love of boxing. He enjoyed watching the sport throughout his life. He was also an excellent pool player, and those who knew him best would say Frank was good at anything he set his mind to.

Frank cherished Christmas gatherings and autumn traditions at Wightman Farm with his children and grandchildren. He was a proud, hands-on grandfather—known for teaching three of his four grandsons to drive and for celebrating family legends like his grandson’s “grand champion” pumpkin slingshot prowess, which always brought a smile to his face.

At home, Frank took pride in keeping a green lawn and maintaining his property. He dearly loved his pet cats, which brought him constant companionship. He also enjoyed collecting, especially toys, trains, and other collectibles, appreciating the craftsmanship and history behind each piece.

Frank is survived by his wife, Marian Shaw; his children, Kathleen Shaw and Kevin Shaw; his sisters, Judy Armstrong and Susan Maclamore; and his grandchildren: Caleb Bergner, Noah Bergner, Eli Bergner, Wyatt Bergner, Thea Shaw, and Eden Shaw.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920 from 9:00 – 11:00am. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
