Maureen Helen Prochaska of Warren, NJ, beloved Mother, Grandma (Rara,) sister, mother in law, aunt, cousin and dear friend, peacefully passed away December 3, 2025 surround by unconditional love with her daughter and sister by her side.
Maureen was born in Union City, NJ, born to loving parents Muriel C. and Joseph J. Travostino. She attended catholic elementary school and moved to Basking Ridge, NJ when she was 11 years old with her parents and four siblings. Maureen was the second born and eldest daughter. She graduated from Ridge High School, class of 1973. She went on to marry her high school sweetheart, Robert (Rocky) B. Prochaska. They married on May 29, 1976 at Saint James Church, Basking Ridge, NJ. Maureen worked for Hooper Holmes, Inc. in Basking Ridge, NJ in the early 1980’s.
During that time Maureen welcomed a daughter, Kelly and son Robert who were the absolute joy of her life.
Maureen worked part time at Liberty Corner Elementary School in the cafeteria in the early 1990’s. When her children were older, she began working full time at William Annin Middle School cafeteria in 2007 until her passing.
Maureen is predeceased by her beloved son, Robert (Robby) J. Prochaska II who passed away February 2025, her husband, Robert (Rocky) B. Prochaska, who passed in 2014, her Mother,
Muriel C. Travostino, Father, Joseph J. Travostino, her sister, Barbara A. Travostino and her dear cat Squeak. Though her life held moments of deep loss, Maureen always met each heartache with grace, strength and courage with deep devotion and love for her family. She truly was a blessing here with us.
Maureen is survived by her beloved daughter Kelly A. (Prochaska) Gramaglia and her husband Giancarlo of Basking Ridge, NJ, sister Patricia (Patty) Pace and her husband Dan of Branchburg, NJ, her brother Joseph (Joe) Travostino of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, her brother William (Billy) Travostino of Virginia, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and her two cats Kitty and Tutu. Maureen was a deeply loving devoted Grandma to her three granddaughters Audrina, Noelle and Gisele. Her granddaughters were her pride and joy, spending time with them daily, sharing funny stories, caring for them since they were born, naturally creating an inseparable bond of security, calm, and comfort with the purest of love. She truly was their second mother in all they shared.
Maureen will lovingly be remembered for being the most selfless person, outstanding strength, precise attention to detail, heartfelt generosity, brightly intelligent, love for all animals, unwavering work ethic and most importantly leading her life with compassionate love and devotion for her family who were most important to her. She was a gentle, beautiful soul, and loved by all who were lucky to know her. Her favorite times were all the simple moments spent with her children, Granddaughter’s and family.
Maureen will truly be missed beyond words as her presence made an ever lasting impression that will forever be imprinted in our hearts. There are not enough words to describe how loved she is and how much she will be missed. Her spirit will live on in all the countless lives she has touched.
