The first time I met Roger and Linda was during their jogging rounds in Nightingale Park, near to us in Cambridge. Witold, my husband, had already told me about an interesting couple he had met at Wolfson College. A warm friendship developed, visiting each other's homes, sharing meals, outings, concerts and many interesting conversations.
When Witold became more housebound, Roger spent many an afternoon with him. Roger had a specific interest in Witold's memory of fleeing with his family from Nazi Germany. Roger recorded some of them, the only recording we have and the family is forever grateful to him.
We were sad when they returned to the States, but the friendship continued, we kept in touch, saw them when they visited Cambridge, and
more recently, after Witold's death, through regular contacts via the internet.
I could see that Roger had become frailer recently but was not prepared for his sudden death. My love and sincere sympathy are with Linda and the Family. I will remember Roger as a warm, genuine friend, interested in people, open to experience.

I remember Roger from grade school and high school in connection with music. HMS Pinafore in grade school. Choir, All-State, All-Northwest, and All Nation Choir in High School. And charter members of the Spokane Symphonic Chorale as Sophomores. Also his really cool dance band in high school where he did most of the arrangements they played. Great talent!!! Paula Fendler

Although I was a member of the math faculty, Roger took a chance with me when he seated me as second flute/piccolo with the CJSO at RVCC. I played with them for almost 15 years, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Roger's enthusiasm for the music was unsurpassed, and his concert programming was spot on. We had some wonderfully memorable concerts, especially the Copland/Bernstein, Tony Strong playing Rhapsody in Blue, the Holocaust music, Night on Bald Mountain, Amahl and the Night Visitors, Also Sprach Zarathustra, and of course Beethoven's Ninth. All I can say is thank you Roger, thank you.

Roger was a warm, generous and energetic man, dedicated to his musical and administrative work at RVCC as professor and performer. I was thrilled to be selected as the second full-time music faculty member; and he and I shared many cherished wonderful years as teachers, performers and friends.

Roger was such a champion of all the singers in Wolfson Choir, encouraging us all in our musical journeys. He was a core part of the community around the choir, as well as a deputy conductor. One of my most cherished memories our the concert, with Roger, at the ancient Église Saint-Étienne de Minerve, as part of our 2014 singers tour around Carcassonne, France. Helping to tie each other's ties in the mirror-less green room - this was very much his manner in life. He made a lasting impact here.

Roger will be fondly remembered by all of us in Wolfson College Choir and Music Society. For many years he sang tenor with us and gave so much of his energy and professional expertise to student musicians. He will be sorely missed. We send our love to Linda and the rest of the family.

Roger was a much valued Visiting Fellow of Wolfson College Cambridge. We appreciated his very active participation in the musical life of the College, and his and Linda's generous benefactions to Wolfson. We remember him with gratitude and hold Linda in our hearts at this sad time. Gordon Johnson [President Wolfson College, Cambridge 1993-2010.]

Roger built the music program at Raritan Valley Community College and was a mentor to me. He was a great conversationalist and a colorful fixture at department parties and post-concert dinners. I will always remember him with fondness and gratitude and listen to The Art of the Fugue in his memory.

In 2026 it’ll be 40 years to celebrate working with Linda in type 1 diabetes research. A highlight was staying with Linda and Roger at their home, when, every morning I would have the pleasure of joining Roger on his daily jog. Great conversations. A truly genuine and kind man. Thinking about you, Judy and Linda, John (Todd)

As our dear friend, Roger, passed on to heaven, Linda, Judy and Jana were playing some of his favorite classical music in his presence. How loving of them and lovely for him.
My husband and I travelled together with Roger and Linda for many years. Our hearts are broken.
Peace to you-Linda, Judy, Jana, Jeff, grandchildren and Roger’s siblings.
Love,
Paul and Becky
