Stephen C McKenna Obituary

Stephen C. McKenna, born in New York City, passed away peacefully at home on September 9, 2025. Stevegrew up in a family surrounded by love and encouragement. With this foundation, Steve grew up confident and ready to take on the world. Steve was a shining light who drew many to him, with his welcoming smile and humor. His passing will leave a void for all of us that loved him deeply.

Steve attended St. Johns University in New York, graduating with a B.A. in History and a Master’s in Education. It was this immersion in history and teaching that led Steve to become a prolific storyteller, generally starting with “stop me if you’ve heard this one” (while never stopping of course). After a few colorful jobs, Steve found his way into the logistics area, working with various companies until finding his home at UPS. He rose through the ranks, becoming Director of Sales, and handling many Fortune 100 accounts, such as Merck, Johnson & Johnson, and Corning, to name just a few. After nearly 3 decades, Steve retired, but he wasn’t done yet. He connected with a beloved former colleague to consult withcompanies on supply chain issues.

Steve picked up guitar later in life and linked up with other like-minded musicians to play with them. He loved playing at Bar Cilento and made many new friends through this experience. Steve also loved running 30 miles a week, spending time at the beach, going to concerts, and talking for hours on the phone to all his friends & family.

Most of all, being with his cherished family was his dream life, whether it was laughing at our many jokes, watching movies, going on adventures, or hiking. The most important part of Steve’s life was his family. The love of his life was Mary, for 40 years, and together they raised 3 beautiful children (Patrick, Caroline and Owen) with all the love and encouragement he learned from his own upbringing. Steve’s desire was to always be there for his wife and children, and he achieved that goal with aplomb.
