Moira P. Skeffington, 90, of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025 surrounded by her loving family at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ. 

Moira was born in Dublin, Ireland to Thomas and Marie Sweeney on May 11, 1935. She immigrated to the United States in 1959, moved to Mendham in 1960 where she lived until moving to Basking Ridge in 1972.  She worked for Anne E. Estabrook for over 20 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, enjoyed activities with her grandchildren, walking, water aerobics, being outdoors, watching golf and staying up to date on current events. She had a deep love of life, strong faith in God, and always had a positive attitude.  She was truly loved by all that knew her. 

Moira is survived by her three children Deirdre Zamora and her husband Louis of Bridgewater, NJ, her son David Skeffington and his wife Nancy “Nan” of Charlotte, NC, her son Sean Skeffington of Lebanon, NJ; her four grandchildren, John Christian Mulhall and his wife Jessica, Noah Skeffington, Jamie Skeffington, Ava Skeffington, and her great granddaughter, Delaney Mulhall. She is also survived by her sister Cora Byrne of Trim, Ireland, and her sister Terry Quirk and her husband Joe of Ratoath, Ireland, and many nieces, nephew, and relatives.  She is predeceased by her husband Patrick Joseph “P.J.” Skeffington, her Mother Marie Sweeney, her Father Thomas Sweeney, her siblings, John Sweeney, Gerard Sweeney, as well as her brother-in-law, Joseph Byrne.

A memorial service will be held at Saint James Roman Catholic Church, Basking Ridge, NJ, on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 10:00 am-11:00 am for a Memorial Gathering and 11:00 am for a Memorial Funeral Mass.  Interment of cremains will immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge, NJ.
