Mary Ann McCluskey of Stirling, New Jersey passed away peacefully on July 9th, 2025 at the age of 82.

Mary Ann was born on March 2nd, 1943 in Orange to Frank and Eleanor Messina. She spent her childhood in East Orange before moving to South Plainfield with her family as a teenager. She graduated from South Plainfield High School in 1960. She married her high school sweetheart Robert “Bob” McCluskey in 1964. The couple moved to High Bridge, where they raised their three children.

Mary Ann worked for New Jersey Bell as her first job, and after many years as a homemaker, returned to the workforce at the USDA in Flemington. She subsequently made a career as a medical office manager until her retirement in 2010. For the last 26 years, Mary Ann shared a home with daughter and son-in-law Elaine and Rick Stomber and helped raise their three daughters, Clare, Katherine, and Julia Stomber.

Mary Ann’s greatest pleasure in life was her family, as well as tending to her garden, and being a faithful member of the Catholic Church.

She was predeceased by her husband Bob in 1984 and her son Robert, who passed away in 1989 at age 24.

Mary Ann is survived by her daughters Elaine Stomber of Watchung and Tressa Baird of Bernardsville; her sons-in-law Richard Stomber and William “Chip” Baird; her brother and sister-in-law Frank and Jean Messina of Brielle; and six grandchildren, Clare Stomber, Katherine Stomber, Julia Stomber, Liam Baird, Emilia Baird and Owen Baird.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, November 29th at 11 am at St. Mary's-Stony Hill Roman Catholic Church in Watchung.
