Thomas J Bozack Obituary

Dr. Thomas (Tom) Bozack, 81, of Gladstone passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Born in Plainfield, NJ, on March 26, 1944, Tom was the beloved second child of Elmer and Elsie Bozack. He was raised in North Plainfield, where he developed a close, lifelong friendship and bond with his devoted brother Bill. A proud graduate of North Plainfield High School's class of 1962, Tom not only served as Class President for 4 years but also was a star athlete, excelling in both wrestling and football.

Tom earned his undergraduate degree at Rider College before graduating with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the Chiropractic Institute of New York in 1967. Later that year, he opened his first chiropractic office in Far Hills, where he met the love of his life, Deborah (Debbie) Welsh, who he married in 1970. Together, they built a life filled with purpose, devotion to family, and a commitment to continuous lawncare.

Tom's professional life reflected his dedication to his patients and the community. In 1972, he moved his practice to Bedminster, and within 2 years, he expanded his practice to Manville, and ultimately, Peapack. Until his retirement in 2014, he faithfully served generations of patients, who will remember him for his skilled hands and steady presence.

When he was not working, Tom was incredibly active. He found joy in golfing, fishing, skiing, running, swimming, watching college football, the Yankees, and most of all, The Price is Right, which he watched, without fail, during his lunch breaks. A man of enduring discipline, he championed a healthy lifestyle and was rarely seen without a project in the yard or around the house.

One of Tom's greatest accomplishments was his remarkable fitness despite his diagnosis of type 1 diabetes at age 19. Living with diabetes for 62 years was no small feat--but Tom never faced it alone. His strength, consistency, and discipline were matched by Debbie's tireless care, as she lovingly crafted the meals and maintained the strict routines that supported his health. His doctors frequently praised Tom as a model patient--a tribute not only to his determination, but to the quiet, powerful partnership that sustained him for more than 5 decades.

Tom gave generously of his time to his community, serving on the Bedminster Township Recreation Committee and coaching youth softball. But his proudest role was always that of a husband, father, or grandfather. He rarely missed a game, performance, or celebration. Whether teaching his children how to drive or his grandchildren how to ride bikes, Tom was a constant, steadfast, and gentle presence within his family. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Tom is survived by his cherished wife, Debbie; his brother Bill; his sister-in-law Mary; his daughter Tracy; his son Tim and Tim's fiance Nicole; and his treasured grandchildren, Elsie, Johnny, Maddie, Max, and Ayla. He was predeceased by his parents Elmer and Elsie Bozack (Klimek).

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 8, from 2 to 5 pm at the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home (101 S. Finley Ave. in Basking Ridge). The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am on Monday, June 9, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church (182 Main Street in Gladstone).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Parkinson's Foundation.
