Salvi Giuseppe Rega, known locally as Joseph Rega, passed away peacefully during the evening of Saturday, May 24, 2025 in Bridgewater, New Jersey. Born on June 18, 1936, he was 88 years old when he passed. Joseph immigrated from Italy to the United States in May of 1954 and spent over four decades working as a union painter, before retiring near his family in Bernardsville. He loved and lived with his second wife, Maryanne, until her passing.
Joe was a proud, hardworking, and willful man. He was a devout catholic and enjoyed fishing, skeet shooting with his sons, listening to Andrea Bocelli, and most of all spending time with his family. He never missed a function and was a kind and generous grandparent. Joe is survived by his three sons: Joe, Randy, and Ray, eight grandchildren: Corie, Bianca, Joe Jr, Kolbi, Jason, Ray Jr, Kristopher, Jordan, and eight great grandchildren: Ryan, Luke, Emma, Everly, Tessa, Walter, Maya, and Ernie. In his final days Joe was surrounded by his family, who miss him dearly. They loved him and cherish his memory.
Visitation will be held at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ on Friday, May 30, 2025 from 10:00am - 12:00pm. Funeral Mass will follow at 12:30pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 111 Claremont Road, Bernardsville, NJ 07924. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge, NJ
