Barbara Kessler

Obituary of Barbara A Kessler

Barbara Ann Kessler (nee Goodman) was born on May 22, 1933 in Queens, New York.  She attended the University of Michigan, and after she met the love of her life, Albert Kessler, transferred to Adelphi University to complete her college education.  Barbara (“Bobbie”) worked in a Manhattan advertising agency until Albert (“Al”) finished dental school.  They were married at the Forest Hills Tennis Club in Queens, and eventually moved to Millburn, New Jersey, where they raised their two children.

Bobbie was an active tennis player, volunteer with the American Cancer Society and local hospice care, and occasionally worked in Al’s dental office in Millburn.  She was an avid reader who loved poetry, short stories, and literature. Bobbie had a passion for watching tennis and baseball. She could not wait for pitchers and catchers to report every Spring.

When Al sold his dental practice, they retired to Basking Ridge where Bobbie was known to bring fruit to the local librarians to thank them for their assistance.  She was a best friend to many, an incredible listener who always had great advice.  Her sense of humor, love of learning, singing, music, movies, tennis and baseball have been passed on through the generations of her family.

Bobbie was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Al.  She will be dearly missed by her son Bruce Kessler and daughter-in-law Jill Flanick of Bluffton, SC, her daughter Nancy Netcoh and son-in-law Frank Netcoh of Eastham, MA, her grandson and spouse Steven and MacKenzie Netcoh and great granddaughters Hope and Lyla of Wethersfield, CT, and her granddaughter and spouse, Leigh and Jose Hidalgo and great granddaughter Victoria of Glastonbury, CT, and all of the friends whose lives she enhanced.

Donations in memory of Bobbie may be made to the Bernards Township Library in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.

Barbara and Albert will be interred together at a National Cemetery, during which a private ceremony will be held by the family.
