Obituary of Jean Mehmel

Jean Marie Mehmel, 75, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 20, 2017, at Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. She was born on October 27, 1941 in the Bronx, New York to John and Elizabeth Cawley and graduated from Mother Cabrini High School. Jean was a lifelong Bronx resident (Fordham and Riverdale sections) until her well-deserved retirement after 40 plus years as a bookkeeper. Her retirement to Bradenton, Florida brought her peace and tranquility, especially as she continued her battle with cancer. Her interests included family, reading, and watching classic movies (and the occasional trip to a nearby casino!). Jean was most proud of her loving family and was a deeply faithful Catholic. She is survived by her son Bob and his wife Barbara residing in Bernardsville, New Jersey, and her grandchildren Clarke, Morgan and Madison. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 9:00 - 10:45am at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920. Funeral Mass will immediate follow at St. James Church, 184 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge at 11:00am. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, 145 Mt. Airy Road, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920.
