Obituary of Arlene C Peterson

Arlene Cacoso Peterson, 90, of Basking Ridge passed away on Monday, October 24, 2016 at Morristown Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of Dr. Byron H. Arison. Arlene lived her entire life in New Jersey, a real "Jersey Girl". She was born in Elizabeth , NJ on April 24, 1926 to Mary Belo and Anthony Cacoso. She was predeceased by her younger brother, Anthony and her first husband, Albert Peterson. Arlene graduated from Battin High School in Elizabeth in 1943, earned a BS in Chemistry and Psychology from Upsala College in 1947, and a MLS from Rutgers University. She worked at Interchemical Corp and then joined Merck&Co. Inc in 1948. She worked as a laboratory scientist and then moved on to positions in the field of information science. When she retired in 1990, she was Assistant Director of Research Information Systems. She was elected to The Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association {PMA} Information Management Committee and Long Range Planning which developed Pharmaceutical Record Retention Schedules for the pharmaceutical industry. Elected to Beta Phi Mu, the International Library Science Honor Society. Arlene volunteered at The Children's Specialized Hospital, served on the Board of Youth & Family Counseling and The Westfield Symphony. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, NJ from 2:00 – 5:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at 4:30pm. Entombment will be private for family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the St. Judes Childrens Hospital at www.stjude.org.
