Eulogy for Irene Stueber by Christine Peredo Irene is my sister and my best friend. In 65 years, very few days went by when we didn't talk to each other or see each other. She and I had a close, comfortable relationship that comes with growing up and sharing time together that I will never be able to replace. Everyone who knew Irene knew how special she was. She took a month off from work to care for dad when mom was in the hospital. Then she took care of mom when she broke her hip twice. She cherished her nephew, Will, and almost everyone I've spoken with confirmed that. When I lost my job last year, she was there to support and help me. I think God had a plan so that I could be with her when she needed me most in her final months and days. Like most of us, Irene had her struggles and disappointments, but I'm happy that her life was easy and enjoyable after she retired. She enjoyed watching the "soaps" and was an avid sports fan. She was a good friend, and she liked to talk. Many people told me of the marathon phone calls they had with Irene. While my heart is broken, Irene is no longer suffering, and I know she is with mom and dad in heaven. So many people were shocked and depressed to hear of her death. But she would want us to celebrate her life and remember the good times we had with her. As Helen Keller once said: "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." I love you, Irene. Rest in Peace.
