Obituary of Olive Frances Drexler

Olive Frances Drexler, Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother Olive Drexler, 88, passed away on July 30 th after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard and a sister, Gail Speer. Olive was born in Paterson, New Jersey and raised in Clifton in 1927, the first of 2 daughters of Irving and Ada Tonkin. Olive spent her life devoted to her family. As a stay at home mother for most of her life, Olive also opened her home to care for many children of working parents. She was also lovingly known to many as "Mommy Ollie". She and her husband retired to Melbourne Florida where she was active in the Melbourne Elks , serving a year as President of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was also active in the Melbourne Ladies Club. Olive is survived by her children, David Drexler and his wife Mary Ann; Deborah Richards and her husband Daniel; Daniel Drexler and his wife Denise; Dorothy Rooney and her husband Patrick and Donald Drexler and his wife Sharon. Her Grandchildren, Allison Richards Bogart and Michael; Bryan Richards, Leslie Anne Richards, Erich Drexler, Darah Drexler; Erin Rooney Mantilla and Lucas; Jason Rooney and Amanda; Lucas Drexler, Zachary Drexler; Brendan Drexler and Troy Drexler. Her Great Grandchildren; Hayden, Hazel and Holden Bogart and Cooper Ostopczuk. A private viewing will be held from 10:00 – 11:30am Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, New Jersey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 Noon – St. James Church, 184 South Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
