Obituary of Warren Wayne Umholtz

Warren Wayne Umholtz of Tewksbury, NJ, passed away on Monday, April 16, at Overlook Hospital.  He was 77 years old.

Born on September 8, 1940 in Jersey City, Warren was the son of the late Daniel and Rose (Yannibella)Umholtz.  He was raised in Jersey City where he graduated from Henry Snyder High School in 1959.

He served as the National Field Service Manager for Federal Pacific Electric Company in Newark, where he worked from 1960 - 1985.  In 1986 he joined Siemens AG in the same capacity.   In 1989 he began working at his own company, Crestview Distributors, Inc. (CDI), specializing in Power Switchgear Engineering.  He is a member of the IEEE Consultants Network of Northern New Jersey.

In 1970 he married Joan Maffongelli of Montclair, NJ.  The Umholtzs lived in Bernardsville, NJ. for many years.  In 1977 he joined the Bernardsville Kiwanis Club, serving in various capacities over the years. Currently  he is President of the Club, a position he has held for  over fifteen years.    He has been a member of Roxiticus Golf Club since 1986.

The Umholtz family originally settled in central Pennsylvania in the early 1700's.  His lineage is still evident in the area of Valley View, Pa..  Because of his interest in American history,  he became active in the Tewksbury Historical Society.  He believed that preservation of our local history is important to future generations.

Warren is survived by his wife Joan of 48 years, by his brother, Donald and wife, Lois, Umholtz of Littleton, Co., by his brother Glenn Umholtz of Gansevoort, NY, by his niece Tammy (Umholtz) and husband, Dalva,  Hedlund, by his nephew Dayton and wife, Margo, Umholtz of Cape May, NJ. and by his niece Alisa Umholtz McGee of Tampa, Florida.

Funeral arrangements were private.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Tewksbury Historical Society, Box 457, Oldwick, NJ 08858.
