Claudia Tanner Dunn, 71, of Basking Ridge passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017 after a long battle with cancer, which she faced with remarkable resilience, strength, courage and faith. Claudia was born in Bayonne, NJ to the late Catherine and Walter Tanner. She lived briefly in Queens, NY before moving to Basking Ridge. She met her husband while working at INA Insurance in New York City. She stopped working to raise her daughters while volunteering extensively with the PTA, Girl Scouts, Meals on Wheels, and The Church of St. James, where she was a parishioner. Later, she returned to work for Dr Allers, a local optometrist, before working for the Borough of Far Hills for the past 10 years, which she greatly enjoyed. She spent most of her free time enjoying and caring for her family, and most recently, her beloved 9-month-old grandson. She also enjoyed exercising, often taking long walks around the neighborhood, and she was talented at cooking, sewing and crafting absolutely anything. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 47 years, George Dunn, daughters Kerry Dunn and Kristin Dunn, son-in-law Matthew Block, 9-month-old grandson Declan Dunn Block, and her black cat Pippin. She was predeceased by her brother, Walter Tanner Jr. Visitation will be held on Friday January 5, 2018 from 4 - 7 pm at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday January 6, 2018, 12noon at St. James Church, 184 S. Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920.
